What to Leave at Home When You go to Disney World
As you start packing for your big trip to Disney World, it’s natural to want to prepare for everything. You may find yourself wondering what you really need for this vacation, and what you don’t. I myself am guilty of over-packing, and kicking myself for it later. After all, where are all of those new souvenirs supposed to fit in your luggage? This list will tell you 6 things you can leave at home when you go to Disney World!
Your Dressy Clothes
While your little princess may love donning a ballgown from Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, don’t stress about packing too many fancy outfits. With the exception of some of the signature dining options at the resorts, the restaurants within the Disney parks are relatively informal. It is perfectly acceptable to wear what you wore to the parks to your dinner reservation!
Your Uncomfortable Shoes
These shoes may be adorable, but they aren’t going to do you any good in the parks. Be sure to avoid shoes that are obviously uncomfortable, and avoid bringing new shoes on your Disney World vacation. You’ll be walking thousands of steps throughout the course of your day, and your feet will need all the help they can get. Bring your most reliable pair of broken-in, comfy sneakers instead.
Your Basic Toiletries
Don’t bog your suitcase down with basic shower items, as these are complimentary in Disney resort hotel rooms. Many resorts are now equipped with environmentally-friendly dispensers, to cut down on plastic waste.
If you’d like to bring these products home with you, they are available to purchase in many resort gift shops. You can also find them on ShopDisney.com!
Your Selfie Stick
They aren’t allowed in the parks, so save the room in your suitcase and leave these at home. If photos are important to you and you’re worried about getting great shots of the whole family, look into adding the Memory Maker to your vacation package!
Your Medicine Cabinet
While it may be helpful to bring basic over-the-counter medications to keep in your resort room, many common items are available for sale in your resort gift shop.
Or, visit one of Disney’s first aid stations if you aren’t feeling well in the parks. Be sure to keep any life-saving medication on hand, and consult your physician prior to your trip for any chronic conditions.
Your Large Stroller or Stroller Wagon
Large strollers and stroller wagons are now banned at Disney parks, so be sure to review the specific dimensions allowed by Disney before you go. These new rules are set in place for guest safety and traffic flow. If your stroller doesn’t make the cut, leave it at home! If you’re looking for another stroller option, you can always rent one that fits the guidelines.
Now that you know some of the things to leave at home for your Disney World vacation, you should free up some room in that suitcase! You never know when you’ll spot a pair of Mickey ears, or a great coffee mug that you just can’t live without.
