Fans Line Up at 2 am To Be Among The First To Check Out Rise of the Resistance
Today was the day Disneyland fans! This morning marked the official opening of Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland theme park. And boy were the fans excited! According to a piece on the Sacramento Bee, fans started lining up as early as 2 a.m. to be among the first to ride this much-anticipated attraction!
A video taken below shows what crowds looked like at 4:25 in the morning to try out the newest attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. With the opening of Resistance, Disneyland’s 14 acre Star Wars expansion is officially complete.
Reception for Rise of the Resistance on the East Coast (it opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in December of 2019) has been massive. Many are describing it as nothing like you’ve ever experienced before. Disney Imagineers used state-of-the-art technology and innovative ride vehicles to truly make guests feel as if you’re in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order.
Because of demand, Disneyland has implemented a virtual queuing system for those looking to gain access to the ride. To participate you need to download the Disneyland App. The device requires you to be inside the park to join a Boarding Group but doesn’t guarantee a spot on the ride. When a similar system was unveiled at Disney World, Boarding Groups for the entire day were filling up first thing in the morning meaning those not getting their early were out of luck.
With this in mind, guests wanting to ride Rise of the Resistance during its first day of opening arrived at the under the cover of darkness to be among the first to register for these boarding groups.
