Fans Annoyed As Content Cycles Out Of Disney+
Much like its predecessors in the streaming world, from time to time, Disney+ will add and drop content.
The most recent round of departures included such films as The Sandlot and Home Alone.
This has not gone unnoticed by the fanatic denizens of Disney+.
Disney+ Drops Content in January
Yahoo Lifestyle recently posted:
Disney+ has been everything Disney fans could have hoped for, as it is packed with all the Star Wars, MCU, and classic content that everyone loves. But while there is a seemingly endless list of movies and shows to stream, fans have noticed that a few titles have gone missing from the streaming service, including Home Alone, Doctor Dolittle, Strange Magic, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Sandlot.
Naturally, viewers were not happy to see these movies were missing and were confused by why the titles went missing. After all, the key difference between Disney+ and other streaming services is that Disney owns all of the properties, meaning that titles should not be in danger of leaving, right? Apparently not and many people took to Twitter to express their concern and frustration about why some of their favorite movies are no longer available to watch on Disney+.
But seriously, what is the reason these titles have suddenly gone missing? According to TV Guide, it appears the mass exodus has to do with “existing licensing deals.”
No Cause for Alarm
“While this small bump isn’t exactly a cause for alarm, one of the most appealing reasons to sign up for Disney+ was the seemingly endless vault of properties that would be offered on the streaming service, some of which hold fond places in our nostalgic little hearts. Even better, we assumed there wouldn’t be the usual confusion of titles coming and going since Disney owned the properties and wouldn’t be licensing them out to other services anymore. Unfortunately, it seems we’ve got a little longer to wait until all of the movies in the Disney vault belong solely on Disney+.”
Hey, here’s the good news. There’s a whole lot more content to stream as Disney+ deals with the downtime.
