Disney Becomes First Studio to Cross $10 Billion Mark At Worldwide Box Office
Frozen 2 may have been the tipping point, but other 2019 blockbusters like Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Toy Story 4 have all but cemented Walt Disney Studios place as a box office juggernaut.
Reports are now surfacing that Disney has grossed over $10 Billion Worldwide at the box office this year!
According to a recent post in Variety, Disney has beaten its own record set back in 2016 of $7.61 Billion. Its a massive achievement but not one that surprised those keeping tabs as the company reported back in July that they had already earned a cool $7.67 billion in worldwide sales.
Though Frozen 2 is definitely reponsible for speeding up the ‘ climb to the $10 billion mark (having already earned in excess of $300 million domestically), it did have a little help for its friends including Avengers: Endgame ($2.798 billon), The Lion King ($1.65 billion), Captain Marvel ($1,130 billion) , Toy Story 4 ($1.074B) and Aladdin ($1.051 billion.)
And the momentum shows no signs of slowing. Remember that The Rise of Skywalker is slated to open in under two weeks which also boasts some mighty fine projections. Experts are already anticipating that the film will earn somewhere between $175 – $200 million on its opening weekend (December 20th.)
