‘Frozen 2’ On Track To Become Disney’s Highest Grossing Sequel Ever
It looks like Frozen 2 is continuing to defy expectations! Yesterday we here at MickeyBlog shared with you the exciting news that the sequel was on target to surpass the box office figures for the original film having grossed over $128 million during the holidays! Today it looks like the momentum keeps growing with reports that the film may become Disney’s most successful sequel to date!
According to a recent report in Forbes, the animated sequel earned a mighty $34 million on Black Friday, bringing its total domestic gross to $236 million. In addition, the film has also raked in $651 million at the international box office, making it the highest-grossing theatrical sequel for Walt Disney Animation. Frozen 2 has officially surpassed Ralph Breaks the Internet which earned $529 million in 2018. As if that weren’t enough, the Hollywood Reporter also points out that this makes the film the best Thanksgiving showing ever for a Disney animated film after besting the first Frozen, which earned $93.7 million for the five days in 2013.
. Frozen 2, hit U.S. theaters on November 22nd and earned an estimated $127 million in its opening weekend. To put this in perspective, that is a 75% increase on how the original film performed in 2013.
