Disney+ Promises to Fix Issues With Wide Screen Viewing of the Simpsons
Earlier this week we shared with you the news that Simpsons fans were up in arms over Disney decision to unveil the entire series on Disney+ using a wide-screen format. This resulted in unusual crops, jokes inadvertently being cut out and characters being stretched. However, it looks like Disney+ has actually taken these complaints on board!
Disney has released an official statement regarding the appearance of The SImpsons check it out!:
“We presented ‘The Simpsons’ in 16:9 aspect ratio at launch in order to guarantee visual quality and consistency across all 30 seasons. Over time, Disney+ will roll out new features and additional viewing options. As part of this, in early 2020, Disney+ will make the first 19 seasons (and some episodes from Season 20) of ‘The Simpsons’ available in their original 4:3 aspect ratio, giving subscribers a choice of how they prefer to view the popular series.”
The option to allow users to switch to 4:3 for pre-2009 episodes will roll out early next year!
This is nothing short of great news for fans of the series and shows Disney’s commitment to tweaking their new streaming service to match viewer expectations. This is a story we’ll be following closely at MickeyBlog so keep following along for updates!
