Disney World Makes $200,000 Investment In Stem-Focused Youth Organizations
One of the things most striking about a visit to Walt Disney World is how technologically advanced the theme parks are. It goes without saying that Disney simply wouldn’t be the same without the pivotal role played by science, technology, engineering and mathematics- otherwise dubbed STEM
Acknowledging the important role STEM plays in the magic-making process, Disney is focusing on the next generation of thinkers, dreamers and maybe even Imagineers with a commitment to invest $200,000 in Stem-focused educational opportunities to local youth.
Orlando Science Center
This local non-profit received a $100,000 Disney Grand toward bringing their Head Start program which introduces STEM concepts to preschool-aged learners, to the classrooms of more than 50 local educators. The people behind the program were recently honored by serving as Grand Marshals before the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom.
PACE Center for Girls
This organization is dedicated to shaping the future of young girls through education, counselling, training and advocacy. PACE was recently awarded a $100,000 Disney Grand to bring a new experiential learning program to Orange and Pol County learning centers. To celebrate, the girls were treated to a special workshop led by Disney leaders who visited their classrooms to share their own journeys into the STEM industry. The visit even included a visit from Doctor Minnie!
Together with these amazing organizations, Disney will be able to continue igniting the imaginations of our local youth by introducing them to the power of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Readers are encouraged to stay-tuned with MickeyBlog to find out what other organizations will be unveiled by Disney as part of their 2019 Grant program.
