Tips for Visiting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party With Small Kids
Over the next month, attendance will really kick up for the remaining Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights happening at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. This event is a family-favourite where visitors get to experience seasonal fireworks, parades, character meets and greets and more! Though Disney aims to make this evening the perfect Halloween event for kids of all ages, when travelling with small kids it can require a bit of forward planning. That’s why we here at MickeyBlog thought we’d share some of our favorite tips for visiting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with tiny tots in tow.
Plot Our Your Visit
During this special ticketed event there is something to see, do and explore around every corner. That means a lot of fun will be had by all but with so much going on it can also be overwhelming for first-time families. In this instance, a little forward planning won’t go amiss. Go into the party with a clear idea of what your family’s must-dos are. Are you there to meet the characters? Go trick-or-treating? See the parade? Having an idea of what you want to prioritize definitely makes for a kinder gentler party visit!
Prepare Your Kids for Things That Might Be a Bit More on the Scarier Side
There are a lot of friendly Disney faces ready to celebrate the Halloween Season with your family. However, especially for families with smaller children, some can be a bit on the scarier side. From the Haunted Mansion gravediggers at the parade to the Jack and Sally meet and greet, some members of Disney’s Halloween line-up can be downright scary. If you’re visiting with small kids, you may want to give them a pep talk about some of the characters they may encounter or research what experiences to stay away from if your kids are particularly squeamish.
Keep an Eye on the Weather
If you’re visiting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party over the next month remember that it’s still Hurricane Season and weather is changeable. This is particularly important on party nights. The Magic Kingdom will often run the stage shows and parades more than once an evening. If the weather looks like it might take a turn for the worse then try to cram in as many of your much-do events as early during the party as possible. Disney will cancel certain elements of the party due to inclement weather. Similarly, the October temperatures can still be pretty darn hot. Take this into consideration when planning out your costumes. Hot and sweaty kids aren’t likely to be happy kids. Try and opt for comfortable, breathable options!
Arrive Early for Extra Fun
It’s unlikely that many little ones will have the stamina to stay up too late on party nights. But don’t worry, you can still get your money’s worth! Though the festivities don’t officially kick off until 7pm, your ticket will give you admittance to the park from 4pm. That means you can squeeze in several rides or even grab a meal before the party officially kicks off.
Bring Those Dancing Shoes
One of the party’s most popular events for preschoolers is the Disney Junior Jam located in Fantasyland. Perfect for young partygoers! You’ll join the likes of Doc McStuffins, Timon and Vampirina. Also—making her Magic Kingdom debut—Nancy Clancy from the hit Disney Junior series Fancy Nancy shows off her best dance moves!
Bring Your Appetites
Halloween is an absolute treasure trove for those wanting to indulge in some delicious eats. From trick-or-treating throughout the park to awesome seasonal treats seemingly around every corner, there’s something that is sure to please even the pickiest of eaters! There are even alternatives for those with food allergies or other dietary needs!
