Disney Calls for Removal of Disney and Marvel Imagery from Bulletproof Backpacks
According to a recent story on CBS, The Walt Disney Company is calling for the immediate removal of bulletproof backpack inserts featuring Disney princesses and Avengers characters from an online merchant. In an official statement, Walt Disney Co. said that they hadn’t authorized the use of the characters!
According to a recent piece on The Wrap, the website does feature the disclaimer, “This product is not associated with the original copyright owner,” and TuffyPack’s founder and CEO Steve Naremore told the outlet that the company never asked Disney for support.
Despite criticism, the demand for sales has spiked. According to TuffyPack’s CEO sales have increased between 300 and 500 percent after the mass shootings.
