Disney Announces Travel Protection Plan Price Increase
The Walt Disney Travel Company has announced a big change this morning! Starting on August 7, 2019, there will be an increase in price for anyone wanting to add on the Travel Protection Plan to their vacation package. Prices for adults are increasing by $5.00. Child and infant prices (under the age of 18) are increasing by 50¢.
With this new increase, the new pricing going into effect is $82.50 for adults and $6.00 for children under 18 years old. Current pricing for the Travel Protection Plan is $77.50 for adults and $5.50 for children under 18 years old.
Another thing to note is that if a guests’ vacation travel dates are modified and their package includes non-refundable airfare, or other non-refundable charges have been incurred, they must purchase a new Travel Protection Plan in order to obtain coverage for the revised travel dates. This procedure applies even if the guest states that they will not be filing a claim on the non-refundable charges.
If you add a new guest to an existing reservation you will be charged the newly updated price. Guests already on the existing reservation will be protected at the original price. So if you had plans to add the Travel Protection Plan to your existing reservation then now is the time to do it before the price increase happens.
What the Travel Protection Plan Does
The Travel Protection Plan helps protect your family for unexpected covered losses for the entire duration of your vacation. It provides coverage if you cancel or interrupt your Walt Disney World, Disneyland or Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa package for covered reasons described in the policy such as illness or injury. If you cancel due to a covered reason, the Travel Protection Plan will provide a refund for the prepaid, non-refundable travel package, including the cost of airfare that is scheduled for travel within 7 days of the travel package.
The Travel Protection Plan also provides coverage for covered losses while traveling. This includes trip interruption, trip and baggage delays, baggage protection and medical expense protection (including emergency medical transportation). In addition, the Travel Protection Plan contains non-insurance services for 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance (provided by On Call International).

Please note that the Travel Protection Plan portion of the vacation package must be paid in full at the time it is applied. Disney also states that this is fully refundable up to 14 days after it is added. After those 14 days it is no longer refundable.
