New Live-Action Lion King Is Nearly 30 Minutes Longer Than the Original
The official runtime is not out for Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Lion King and reviewers were quick to notice that the new film comes in at nearly half an hour longer than the original animated version of the film that was released in 1994.
Sitting in the director’s chair Jon Favreau who has already successfully directed another of Disney’s live-action remakes The Jungle Book has promised from the beginning that the upcoming version of the film wouldn’t be a shot-for-shot remake of the original. This seems to be confirmed with the differences in run time. The Lion King lists it’s official run time as 118 which is 29 minutes longer than the 1994 release.
The re-make of this classic Disney film will be brought to the screen in a live-action format utilizing state-of-the-art filmmaking techniques. However, despite it’s slightly longer length the storyline will remain true to the one we all know and love. The cast features a star-studded lineup including Donald Glover (Simba), Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Nala), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), and Billy Eichner (Timon).
