Soul Music – Bob Iger Tweets: It’s All Right
As the final shopping days tick away, the excitement level for Christmas remains somewhat subdued as so many families focus on social distancing.

In Disney and Pixar’s “Soul,” a middle-school band teacher named Joe Gardner (voice of Jamie Foxx) finds himself in The Great Before, a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. It is there where he meets Terry (voice of Rachel House), who is charged with the singular duty of keeping track of the entrants to The Great Beyond. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22 (voice of Tina Fey) to show her what’s great about living. Directed by Academy Award® winner Pete Docter, co-directed by Kemp Powers and produced by Academy Award® nominee Dana Murray, p.g.a., “Soul” will debut exclusively on Disney+ (where Disney+ is available) on December 25, 2020. ©2020 Disney/Pixar. However, thank goodness those still sequestered in immediate families (for going on 10 months) can look forward to enjoying a new tent pole-type movie on December 25th – Soul.
Soul: A Big Present?
In theory, Walt Disney Company Chairman Bob Iger may be the person who dropped that gift on Disney Fans. But, as Disney · Pixar prepares for Soul’s debut on Christmas Day, he let us all get a peek at he big present.
Today, he tweeted:
Wonderful duet of "It's All Right" by @JonBatiste & Celeste featured in @PixarSoul, premiering on @disneyplus this Friday! A great song in a very special film!https://t.co/ly0vpaNyuw

Iger tweeted, “Wonderful duet of “It’s All Right” by @JonBatiste & Celeste featured in @PixarSoul, premiering on @disneyplus this Friday! A great song in a very special film!”
And Disney Music followed up with:

Music is so important in many, many Disney films. But Soul’s musical quotient is very, very high.
A peek at Jon Batiste
And as far as Batiste, Disney had plenty to say:

As Batiste worked his magic, animators studied his movements. Says Powers, “We jokingly said that Jamie Foxx plays Joe’s body, but Jon Batiste plays his hands. We recorded Jon playing all of the original songs that Joe plays in the film, and the animators used him as a reference to model for Joe Gardner throughout the film. It’s some pretty virtuosic stuff!”
Meanwhile, the visuals look pretty “virtuosic,” too!
As Twenty Two might say, “It’s Soul good.”
