Talking To CEO Bob Iger: Disney Current Events
There are few people I am jealous of. That’s not a brag or even a humble brag. These days, I just generally feel “ready” for-all-comers, particularly when I’m typing. However, there is one archetypal character that I am pretty envious of: Reporters who get to querie Bob Iger (MickeyBlog.com’s Greg Antonelle, included).
The folks who get to encounter a mover and a shaker of that magnitude, and then write about it… Dude, that just sounds like fun.
So, whenever I get a chance to “read into” the mind of the guy with his finger on the trigger, I want to learn as much as possible.
Barron’s on CEO Bob Iger

Bob Iger, Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO (right), and George Lucas, Star Wars creator, stand in front of the Millennium Falcon at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, May 29, 2019. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens May 31, 2019, at Disneyland Resort in California and Aug. 29, 2019, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Barron’s Jack Hough is the latest intrepid writer to be let into the office:
On early impressions from Galaxy’s Edge
We knew there would be intense demand to go see it, so we put in a reservation system to control crowds. It’s beyond our greatest expectations in terms of merchandise, food, beverages, and so on.
On competing with Netflix
The marketplace is hungry for this, and we have a brand people know and love.
On whether streaming is too crowded
No, because of our brands. Disney+ will have Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more. There will be originals, a library of past movies, and recent releases like “Avengers: Endgame.”
