How Disneyland Will Limit Reservation Windows at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
If you haven’t heard yet, reservations will be required to enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland for the first three weeks it will be open. Reservations will also be limited to a 4 hour time period. So, I got to wondering, how will Disneyland limit these reservation windows? And, thanks to the people over at the OC Register, I have that answer! Guests with reservations will be given colored wrist bands to track their time frames.
Cast Members in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be able to take a look at a Guest’s wristband to see if their reservation period has ended. If so, the Cast Member will then be able to deny them entry to the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, Oga’s Cantina, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Savi’s Workshop, and Droid Depot Experimental Shops. Guests may be asked to completely leave the land as well.
Disneyland is banking on the fact that four hours will be sufficient for Guests to full-immerse themselves in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disneyland Vice President Kris Theiler said, “Four hours is a long time in the land. Most guests are going to find that they’re ready to roll after four hours.”
Disneyland also doesn’t want Guests to be waiting in line for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run for the entire four hours during their visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Theiler is projecting about a two hour wait time though. Disney plans to persuade Guests to hold off on their wait for Millennium Flacon: Smuggler’s Run until the second or third hour of their reservation period to explore other areas of the new Land.
The reservation period for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be required from May 31 to June 23, 2019. Reservations for the general public are no longer available. However, if you book a stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, you will be guaranteed a reservation.
