Delicious Reasons to Get on Board With Disney’s New Protein Bowl Trend
Dating back to the opening of Satu’li Canteen at Pandora-The World of Avatar we are seeing a new culinary trend emerge. Disney’s chefs have been hard at work coming up with new, inventive and delicious ways to feed hungry theme park guests! As part of this effort, we give you the rise of Protein Bowls!
These convenient on-the-go lunches have been popping up at various location through Disney’s theme parks and resorts. D23 recently had a chat with Chef de Cuisine at Disneyland Resort Mark Baun about this exciting new trend. According to Braun, “(It all started with the Cast. We have a team of different cultures, something like (the bowls), is something we didn’t have.”
For those wondering what sort of ingredients you’ll find with this new dining trend, each bowl starts with a base of white or brown rice. Then a protein is added. Thrown into the mix are a wide array of delicious fresh toppings including things like Togarashi seasoning, pickled cucumbers, watermelon and more! Culinary Director John State from Disneyland Resort said he hopes guests are “transported to a unique place with foreign flavors” when you try each bowl. So where can you find these delicious entrees? Here’s a list of some of our favorites:
