Several online reports are hinting at big changes coming to Disney’s PhotoPass service. These reports state that human photographers are being phased out for automated kiosks at character meet and greet locations.
WDWMagic is reporting that the first character meet and greet location to see the change will with Tinker Bell in the Magic Kingdom’s Town Square Theater. Guests should see this change beginning on November 26, 2018. Other reports state that up to nine locations may be using this new PhotoPass system on that date as well.
The new automated PhotoPass kiosks will show guests the photo taken and then allow them to scan their MagicBand or hard ticket to save the image to their My Disney Experience account. This procedure is similar to the system already in place for ride and attraction photos.
It is being reported that all character meet and greet locations will move over to this new system in the months to come. It is unknown at this time if the automated kiosks will show in Disneyland as well. Universal Parks already use a similar photography system.
