Discover The Details Hidden In Haunted Mansion Tombstones
The Haunted Mansion at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park has been a guest favorite since opening in 1971. Doom Buggies take riders on a haunted journey through the famed mansion and showcase all kinds of spooky features. One of the most popular aspects is, of course, the incredible tombstones located throughout. Covered in clever sayings, rhymes and play-on-words, the tombstones are a creative and fun part of the attraction.
Did You Know?
Did you know that the tombstones actually pay tribute to famous Disney Legends and Imagineers who helped create the attraction those many years ago? One headstone references “Master Gracey” who of course refers to Imagineer Yale Gracey. Gracey was a special effects extraordinaire and worked diligently to bring the spirits of the Haunted Mansion to life. There is also “Grandpa Marc”. Better known as Marc Davis, he is the artist behind the stretching portraits. “Haunting Harriet” is actually Harriet Burns, WED Enterprises’ first female employee. She created models for the attraction while “Brother Claude”, or Claude Coats as us foolish mortals know him as, developed the mansion’s interior.
