Fun Ways to Celebrate Ladies Day at Disney!
Okay ladies, it’s our turn! We’ve already covered what Walt Disney World has to offer the boys when they’re looking to spend a little time with their guy friends here, but now it’s the ladies’ turn to step into the ‘getaway from the getaway’ mindset. What exactly do I mean by that? Well, you’re not an anomaly for wanting it, nor should you feel guilty about it! It’s totally normal to want to spend quality time with your girlfriends on vacation without kids and husbands- how else are you supposed to catch up with each other? It’s Ladies Day at Disney!
The best kinds of Disney vacations involve family, there’s no if’s and’s or but’s about it. For me, the true essence of a vacation includes time away from not only the daily monotony of breakfast, work, school, dinner, bed, but also seeing some friendly faces we don’t get to see every day.
I love traveling to Walt Disney World Resort with a huge group consisting of both family and friends, and I know I’m not alone. The next time you’re visiting Walt Disney World Resort with your family and want a little ‘girl time’, or if your next visit will be an escape with your gal pals, there is no shortage of fun you can have with your besties in tow!
Girls Who Snack Together, Stay Together
Girls love to chat and catch up, and we also love ice cream…two indisputable facts of life. If you only have a little time to escape from the kids, head over to Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s Boardwalk. The Brooklyn-born creamery is hand-scooping rich, homemade flavors all day and night. They even make a special flavor you can only get at Disney’s Boardwalk!
Pull up a chair to one of the many outdoor tables situated along Crescent Lake, and you’ll have the perfect view of slow boats lazily carting passengers along the water while you catch up on all of the latest drama, over a cone of course!
Shopping
If you just can’t convince the guys to take the kids for the day, this next option offers both a chance for you and your friends to go off on your own while the kids and the boys explore! At Disney Springs, there are countless experiences to embark upon for both adults and children alike.
Have your husband(s) take the kids to T-Rex for an exotically wild bite to eat, then suggest they spend some time in World of Disney, Once Upon A Toy, the Lego Store, Candy Cauldron, Star Wars Galactic Outpost…there are so many options!
As for you- take this opportunity to walk the Springs and shop at the brand-new, gorgeously constructed shopping district. Stores like Lily Pulitzer, Ugg, Lucky Brand, Erwin Pearl, Pandora, Coach, and so many more are just begging for you to step through the doors and discover everything they have to offer!
Some stores, like Lily Pulitzer and Ugg for example, offer special merchandise created in conjunction with Disney, meaning you can only buy them at Disney Springs!
A Lakefront Flight
I love some good wine, and I’m fairly certain each and every one of my female friends feels a deep fondness for the drink too. There are some great spots to escape from the family and grab a glass of wine, but my recommendation for the best spot to sit and chat with the best pours is Spice Road Table in the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot. Spice Road is my choice for two reasons: lagoon-front patio seating, and wine flights.
Even if you don’t have a reservation, you won’t have any problem getting a table- just show up to the host stand at Spice Road and ask for an outdoor table! Choose from a red or white wine flight, and you will be presented with 3 pours of different wines to taste. The patio at Spice Road Table is situated right on Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon, providing you with breathtaking views in a secluded environment perfect for chatting.
Get In Your Workout
If you really can’t escape the guys (and kids) but still want to catch up with your friends while on vacation, I would recommend renting a surrey! You can rent a surrey in many locations, but if you choose to start at Disney’s Boardwalk, you’ll be able to take the loop around Crescent Lake, which is, in my opinion, the most fun place to pedal!
Have the kids and your husband(s) sit in the front, or better yet, have them rent a separate surrey! You and your girlfriends can pedal around in your own private mega-bike while chatting, gossiping, and talking about whatever it is you need to catch up on. Surreys are also a great way to stay fit while on vacation, so if you and your girlfriends are looking to stay svelte while on your trip, consider renting one so you can get your workout in all while hanging with your bestie!
Disney vacations are a great way to spend time with your family…some would even argue that they’ve never felt like a closer-knit unit when they’re at Disney World! Getting away is great for everyone in the family, but a Disney vacation isn’t always relaxing, especially when early alarms are set to ensure you won’t miss rope drop.
When you’re traveling, though, its equally as important to take a little time for yourself, and spending a day, an afternoon, or an evening with your best friends is a great way to feel rejuvenated! Which of these would you and your girlfriends love to do when you visit? Let us know in the comments below!
