So, come join me on this weekly journey to find your new favorites! It’s time to create a new tradition!
Tasty Treat: School Bread
For the first edition of Tasty Treat Tuesday, we are going to start with my absolute favorite treat at Walt Disney World. It’s this wonderful thing called … School Bread.
What is it?
School bread (“Skolebrød”) is a traditional Norwegian sweet bread roll that is filled with vanilla custard and topped with sweet icing and toasted coconut.
Why try it?
This dessert is a contrast of textures and flavors that meld into one delicious sweet treat. The vanilla custard is flavor-ful, cold, rich, and creamy and requires a sturdy roll to con-tain its goodness. The sweet roll is springy and envelopes the custard, creating a nice balance of texture. Finally, the powdered sugar frosting is covered with toasted coconut, adding a nutty flavor to the top. All of these items are fla-vorful separately. Combine them all together and you will fall in love!
Where can I find it?
School bread is located in the Norway Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. After visiting with Elsa and Anna, be sure to stop by Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and try this tasty treat. When entering the Norway Pavilion, Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe is located to your left across from the popular Ta-ble Service restaurant – Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. It’s a small spot, but packs a big punch. In addition to School Bread, the quick service restaurant also serves sandwich-es and traditional Norwegian specialties.
Have you tried it yet? If not, stop on by Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and let me know what you think of School Bread!
