4 Ways to Stay Cool at Disney World Without Missing Out On the Fun
Though the Summer may be winding down the temperatures at Walt Disney World are still “Hot! Hot! Hot!” That’s why its important for families going on an August or September Disney getaway to be sure to stay cool. However, saving yourself from overheating shouldn’t mean missing out on all the things there are to see and experience at Walt Disney World. With that in mind, here are a couple of quick pointers to stay cool while having fun at Disney World.
Spend the Afternoon at a Disney Water Park – The great thing about getting a Park Hopper Plus ticket at Walt Disney World is that it allows you to skip out of the theme parks when the temperatures start to soar and over to one of Disney’s two amazing water parks. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon both offer a wide array of rides for all tastes. You’ll find meandering lazy rivers as well as water slides perfect for adrenaline junkies. Both parks also offer play areas where tiny tots can swim and splash. With slides, wave pools and shady seating areas we guarantee you’ll have a cool and entertaining afternoon!
Cool Off with a Frozen Treat – A pretty delicious way to stay cool while at the parks is with one of Disney’s amazing frozen treats. We recommend the iconic Pineapple Dole Whip Floats at the Magic Kingdom or Disney Polynesian Village Resort. There also the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor serving up an array of wonderful treats including the Mickey-themed Kitchen Sink Sundae. At Hollywood Studios be sure to stop by Hollywood Scoops for their delicious homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches or head to the Italy pavilion for an authentic gelato. You’ll also find the much-loved Mickey Ice Cream Bars and Ice Cream Sandwiches at snack carts throughout the resort.
Head for Attractions Where You Can Cool Off – A great way to take a break from the heat is to head to some of those attractions that will keep you cool. A great option that doesn’t usually have any lines is Mickey’s Philharmagic at Magic Kingdom. This family-friendly 4D musical show is a wonderfully entertaining way to take a quick rest. Splash Mountain offers a thrilling way to stay cool as your sure to get wet during the final plunge. Finally, if you’re at Animal Kingdom brave the waterways on Kali River Rapids where you are bound to get a bit wet! Lines at Kali River Rapids and Splash Mountain can get pretty long by mid-day so both make a great use of an afternoon FastPass!
Stay Hydrated – Disney offers plenty of wonderful ways to stay hydrated for those visiting on hot days. From delicious frozen treats to bottled water, it’s important to make sure that you’re drinking throughout your Disney visit. For those on a tight budget, many of Disney’s Table Service restaurants will also offer free water to guests in need, there are fountains throughout the parks and you can request a cup of water at all Quick Service dining locations.
