The Best Quick Service Breakfasts at Walt Disney World
The morning rush on a school or work day is bad enough; an early alarm means toeing the start line of your day. If you’re used to a morning commute, I’m sure a normal day looks something like this: each and every tick of the clock means you’ve got that much less time to get showered, dressed, make lunch, eat breakfast, and if I’m lucky, make a cup of coffee before I have to catch a train to work and dream about the best quick service restauarants in Disney World.
No matter how much I’ve prepped the night before and no matter now fast I feel like I’m moving, getting out the door is always punctuated with an “oh no…I hope I make it!” So, read all about the best quick service breakfasts at Walt Disney World!
I think a big part of the reason we all look so forward to vacation mornings is because they look nothing like the normal day! If you’re going on a Walt Disney World vacation, I’m sure you’re planning to get the most bang for your buck and are hoping to hit as many attractions and experiences in the parks as humanly possible, right?
Well, I’ve got a bit of unsettling news if you’re allergic to an alarm clock: you’re going to have to wake up just as early, if not earlier than you do at home to make your trip worthwhile! The morning rush at Walt Disney World is just as real as it is at home, but don’t worry…an easy, quick, and relatively cheap breakfast is in the bag, just read on!
Deliciously Speedy Picks at the Resorts
While I wholeheartedly stand behind a table service breakfast, I realize that time and budget play a huge factor into planning meals, so you’re going to want to look into quick service breakfasts for the most important meal of your day.
My first recommendation is my favorite of all the Resort breakfast spots, and the guests of Yacht and Beach Clubs don’t have to walk more than a few steps through the lobby to get to it! The Beach Club Marketplace is a very quick and easy morning stop to make on your way out to the parks.
They have a large array of hot and cold breakfast items like eggs, sausage, and hot coffee to go! I know I said these options are all about speed, but if you’ve got a little time to spare, one of my favorite morning routines is ordering a piping hot plate of Mickey Waffles (they come with bacon!) and taking them to the quiet, shaded outdoor patio overlooking the gorgeous foliage.
Good’s Food to Go at Old Key West is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated and least talked about quick service breakfasts and dining options on property. It’s true that Old Key West is a DVC Resort, but that doesn’t mean that you have to be a DVC member to eat at the restaurants! You’re going to be doing a lot of walking, so a big breakfast is a must before a park day, and the hot ham and cheese sandwich served on thick Texas toast is just the ticket.
The thing is so big and filling that I can usually go without eating lunch when I indulge in this decadence for breakfast. Speaking of decadence…Olivia’s Bread Pudding is a must-try if you’re looking to indulge. The big slab of dark, sweet, bread pudding is topped with a dusting of powdered sugar and some kind of maple/rum syrup that ties the whole beautiful conglomeration together. Oh, and it comes with bacon or sausage too.
Disney’s Boardwalk is my favorite Resort to stay at not only for the classic 1930’s Jersey Shore theming that is done so well, but because it’s within walking distance of 2 of the 4 theme parks on property! If you’re a guest at the Boardwalk (or the very nearby Yacht, Beach, Swan, or Dolphin hotels) a stop at the Boardwalk Bakery on your way to the parks is the quickest and cheapest way to fill up, without missing a stride!
It’s one of my favorite quick service breakfasts! They serve everything from croissants to warm cinnamon rolls, and no matter what you and your family order, almost everything is easy to eat on the go- no utensils required.
Quick Picks in the Parks
Sometimes, when you’re trying to be first in line for rope drop, grabbing breakfast (no matter how fast) before you queue up at the entrance just isn’t in the cards. Luckily, there are a few very good, very quick breakfast options inside the Parks you can feel good about stopping off at knowing none of your precious park time will be wasted.
My favorite in-park breakfast spot is Sunshine Seasons in Epcot. Located in The Land Pavilion, this quick service breakfast, lunch, and dinner stop is so often bypassed by guests whose eyes are dead-set on the Soarin’ queue. Trust me, the breakfast food you get at Sunshine Seasons will be worth stopping for!
My family of 3 loves to stop here for the breakfast platter that comes with eggs, potatoes, (amazing) cinnamon sugar bread pudding, bacon, and sausage. It’s just as massive as it sounds. That’s why the 3 of us order one and share…and no one has left hungry yet.
Depending on the time of year you visit, Gaston’s Tavern in the Magic Kingdom won’t be the quickest option on the list- when I visited at Christmas I waited almost 30 minutes in line!- but it is definitely one of the best! If you ask my best friend, she will rave for days about the chocolate croissant…but for once, I’m agreeing with the popular opinion and recommending the enormous warm cinnamon roll!
The roll speaks for itself, and as you can see in the photo, it’s height, width, and weight rivals Gaston’s. The density of the roll is part of what makes it so great, but the frosting is strictly limited to the top…so once you really dig into the soft, layered, fleshy center, the bites get drier and drier.
I’ve got a quick and FREE fix for this problem; simply ask for extra icing, and you can dunk and dip every morsel of that savory dough into the sweet warm icing that brings the whole thing together. Happy dining and enjoy these delicous quick service breakfasts!
