Muppet Babies (2018)
Muppets fans were instantly won over by this reimagining of the hit animated series that most of us grew up watching on Saturday mornings from 1984 – 1991. This update sees the return of your favorite baby muppets including Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo and Animal along with Summer Penguin. The gang uses their imaginations to set out on countless adventures taking them to the furthest corners of the universe under the watchful eye of Miss Nanny of course!
Best of all, this Disney Junior/Disney Channel update features a catchy new theme song performed by Renee Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton) that is sure to have you singing along.
The Muppets (2011)
The Muppets had a bit of a Renaissance with this film which follows Walter, a mega-Muppet fan from Smalltown U.S.A and his human brother Gary (Jason Segal – who also co-wrote the screenplay) as well as Gary’s long-suffering girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) as they head to Hollywood to connect with Walter’s longtime heroes. Before they know it, the trio must take on the task of reuniting previously separated Muppets to save the Muppet Theater from destruction at the hands of a nefarious tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper.)
The Muppet Movie (1979)
This takes us all of the way back to 1979 with the film that started it all! The Muppet Movie follows Kermit the Frog (voiced by Jim Henson) as he leaves his swamp behind to try and make it in Hollywood. He meets Fozzie, Miss Piggy and the Electric Mayhem Band along the way. The movie features a fun array of celebrity cameos including Steve Martin, Mel Brooks, Orson Welles and more! The Muppet Movie also holds the distinction of being named to the prestigious National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2009.
The Great Muppet Caper (1981)
Caper is right! This was Jim Henson’s film directorial debut where we find Kermit, Fozzie and Gonzo as investigative journalists for the Daily Chronicle. The travel to London to cover a major jewel heist and quickly find out that the robbery is not what it seems. An elaborate plot ensues where its up to Miss Piggy and Kermit to save the day!
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
A holiday cult classic, The Muppet Christmas Carol recasts the classic Charles Dickens story to feature many of your favorite Muppet friends. Michael Caine also provides a superb performance as Ebenezer Scrooge the famous old miser who on Christmas Eve is taught the error of his ways by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. This marks the first directorial debut for Jim Henson’s son Brian.
Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure comes to life in this fun adaptation. Mysterious Sailor Jim Hawkins (Kevin Bishop) sets sail on the high seas with pals Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat. Joining the expedition is the Squire Trelawney (Fozzie Bear); the dashing Captain Smollett (Kermit the Frog); and Long John Silver (Tim Curry). Plans go awry when Silver and his crew take Jim hostage, leaving Smollett and his men to come to the rescue. Also, be on the lookout for some fun cameos from Billy Connolly and Jennifer Saunders.
