Support Pours In For Furloughed Disney Cast Member Who Has Yet To Receive an Unemployment Check
ClickOrlando is sharing the stories of Walt Disney World Cast Members that are furloughed and struggling with state unemployment and benefits system that has yet to provide them with the support they so desperately need.
One story shared this week was Allyssa Brewbaker, an employee at Disney’s Polynesian Resort and a single mom who has yet to receive state benefits to look after her family during these uncertain times. After her story aired on ClickOrlando, Allyssa said that she received financial support from viewers who reached out to help.
Brewbaker said, “I honestly can’t believe the response,” the stunned single mom told News 6 on Friday. “I’m so grateful!” Viewers were inspired by the story of the three boys she raises including a 3-year old and 2-year old twins. Brewbaker in the original story which you can see below said that her unemployment has been delayed for seven weeks. She is being told by the benefits office that it would arrive but never has.
Her story is one of many as furloughed employees including Disney Cast Members are reporting issues with the unemployment system including claims being stuck in pending status and others being denied when applicants say they should qualify.
