Disney Potentially Loses Out On Revenue Because Of No Baby Yoda Merchandise
You have seen him everywhere on social media. Baby Yoda has become quite the star since he premiered on the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. There are hundreds of meme’s out about this adorable creature, but you won’t find any merchandise featuring him. Disney missed the mark BIG time on this. Disney will likely lose out on about $2.7 million in revenue because of the lack of Baby Yoda products.
The report found Amazon customers searched for Baby Yoda product 90,000 times from November to December. “The Mandalorian” received 126,000 searches, according to TheWrap. Although, Hasbro confirmed to Vanity Fair that it won’t have any Baby Yoda products available for the 2019 holiday shopping season. Instead, the toys will be available in 2020.
According to ScreenRant, “it’s fairly common for toy designs and packaging to leak online, something Disney was undoubtedly aware of. Since (showrunner Jon) Favreau and (writer Dave) Filoni wanted to save Baby Yoda as a surprise for viewers tuning in to see what was sold as ‘the bounty hunter show,’ Disney couldn’t take the risk of anything coming out early. The studio doesn’t share all spoilers with toy manufacturers, so there’s a chance Baby Yoda was a huge twist for Hasbro as well.”
Would you love some Baby Yoda merchandise? I know I would!
