Disney Rescues 20 Guests Stuck on California Adventure’s Incredicoaster
Imagine this! You wait all year for your Disneyland vacation, head to California Adventure, and hop on your favorite attraction, the Incredicoaster…only to have it break down while you are on it!
That is what happened to 20 guests yesterday as they were trapped on the popular attraction.
Disney Rescue
On Sunday, June 30th at approximately 1:30pm, 20 riders got stuck on the popular attraction. Guests and cast members faced the additional challenge of summer heat and sunny conditions.
Disneyland cast members in safety harnesses evacuated the riders after the roller coaster broke down on the track.
In an effort to help with comfort, Disneyland handed out umbrellas to riders stuck on the ride. The guests were immobile for more than an hour amid a scorching heat wave while rescue crews freed guests stranded on the 120-foot-tall roller coaster.
The Incredicoaster riders were quickly evacuated and escorted to safety after the ride broke down on the track. The coaster remained temporarily closed as of 7 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Disneyland app.
Heat Wave
Anaheim is experiencing hot temperatures ahead of an expected heat wave this week, reaching the mid-80s on Sunday and adding an extra element to rescuing the guests.
The 6,000-foot-long looping roller coaster is located in Pixar Pier and just underwent a seasonal refurbishment in March. The attraction was also temporarily down the day before. Disney has not released any info on what caused the attraction’s breakdown.
