‘Inside Out 2’ Is Now the 10th Highest-Grossing Animated Film Ever
Pixar’s Inside Out 2 continued to dominate the box office through Tuesday and is showing no signs of slowing down.
By the end of the day yesterday, the film had crossed the $800 million mark at the global box office, including $411.9 million from 44 overseas markets.
Domestically, the film has grossed $387.8 million, making Inside Out 2 the 10th highest-grossing animated film ever. So far this week, the film has passed Minions: The Rise of Gru ($370 million), Finding Nemo ($381 million), and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ($382 million).
To reach the ninth spot on the list, the film will have to pass Frozen and its $400 million domestic gross.
Another Record-Breaking Day
On Tuesday alone, the film added $18.4 million to its domestic total, which was the highest second Tuesday ever for an animated movie. Even outside of animation, Inside Out 2‘s numbers were impressive. Tuesday’s haul was good for the 6th biggest second Tuesday ever.
Internationally, the film grossed another $19.7 million overseas, which was roughly 12% of its weekend total. Interestingly, the film has still yet to debut in certain foreign markets, including Japan.
Reaching $1 Billion Now Seems to Be a Certantity
Based on Inside Out 2‘s current trajectory, it is seemingly a matter of when, not if, the film reaches the $1 billion mark. When it does so, the film will be just the 54th film to do so.
After a rough couple of years for Pixar, Inside Out 2 has proven that the studio has not lost its touch. Disney fans and movie theater owners both have reasons to celebrate.
