‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Had the Best Day-One Pre-Sale Ticket Sales in the Franchise’s History
After a disappointing 2023, Marvel Studios is turning to Ryan Reynolds and his “Marvel messiah” Deadpool to turn things around.
In stark contrast to the last few years, where Marvel saturated the box office with multiple films and released a slew of series to Disney+, this year, the studio will only release one film to theaters — Deadpool & Wolverine.
The upcoming film will not only be the first entry in the Deadpool franchise to be produced by Marvel Studios but the film is also expected to bridge the gap between the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the Fox X-Men movies. Most importantly, however, it will also see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine for the first time since 2017’s Logan.
All Signs Point to ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Being a Hit
While the film will not hit theaters until July 26, so far, everything seems to be pointing towards Deadpool & Wolverine becoming another Marvel hit.
The first trailer for the third Deadpool film quickly became the most-watched trailer of all time. Social media, meanwhile, has been buzzing with rumors, intrigue, and theories about the film.
Record-Breaking Ticket Sales
One day after tickets finally went on sale for Deadpool & Wolverine, Fandango has reported that the film’s first-day pre-sale numbers were the site’s largest of 2024. Perhaps even more impressively, the film’s first-day ticket sales were also the highest in the history of the Deadpool franchise.
To celebrate the achievement, Fandango released a new image of Deadpool and Wolverine.
.@MarvelStudios‘ #DeadpoolAndWolverine broke Fandango’s best first-day ticket sales record for 2024. The film is also the best first-day pre-seller from the Deadpool franchise. While fans were initially worried that the decidedly R-rated Deadpool would be toned down by Disney and Marvel Studios, Reynolds has told anyone who would listen that these fears are unfounded. In fact, the actor has called the upcoming film “the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool.”
Marvel will likely not celebrate until Deadpool & Wolverine puts up numbers at the box office. Still, the studio has to be happy with how the film’s promotional period has gone.
Happy days may be on the horizon for Marvel Studios.
