Anthony Mackie Says ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Meant the End of ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’
While Anthony Mackie is set to assume the role of Captain America for a fourth installment in the popular Marvel franchise, it sounds like the film’s creation will officially mark the end of a popular Disney+ streaming series.
In a recent interview with Radio Times, Mackie revealed that the creation of Captain America: Brave New World ultimately meant that Season 2 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was not meant to be.
“‘The Falcon and [the] Winter Soldier,’ I really enjoyed doing that show,” he tells the site. “I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian [Stan] can get paid to hang out. Because it’s like me, him and Daniel Brühl. It’s kind of like the perfect storm of happiness.”
Will Sebastian Stan Be in ‘Captain America 4’?
Mackie’s statement that he will miss working with Sebastian Stan and Daniel Bruhl, who played Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier and Baron Zemo, respectively, also likely means that the duo will not be appearing in the upcoming Captain America film.
“When they decided to go back to the movies, it is what it is, but I don’t have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit,” Mackie went on.
“Anything I can do to hang out with Daniel, a dancing Daniel Brühl, makes me very happy.”
The Future of Marvel
It sounds like Sebastian Stan will not appear in Captain America: Brave New World. His Winter Soldier will, however, star in the upcoming Thunderbolts.
Daniel Brühl, meanwhile, has stated that he will be sidelined in the MCU for the foreseeable future while he works on HBO’s The Franchise.
Both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts will hit theaters next year.
