Five Military Families Treated to VIP Preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened to the public last week on August 29, five military families were treated to a VIP preview of the new land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. All five of the families were treated to food and drinks as well as a chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
The photo above features Coast Guard Petty Officer Second Class Karl Haslauer and his family at the Black Spire Outpost marketplace in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
The five military families selected for the VIP preview represented all five branches of the military: Navy, Coast Guard, Army, Marines, and Air Force. The families had a chance to meet and greet with Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek, Disney Parks Western Region President Catherine Powell, Walt Disney World Resort President George A. Kalogridis. Chewbacca even managed to get in a photo bomb!
All the military families in attendance including Army Capt. Jerome Bustamanate and his family were able to visit the Droid Depot to build their own custom droid!
Navy Chief Petty Officer Jorge Salas and his family sat at the famous chess board before it was their turn to pilot the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” on the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
Bob Chapek gave each of the military members in attendance a Disney-themed challenge coin to thank them for their service.
This VIP preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is just one of several things Disney does to show their support of the United States Military and it’s military families. MickeyBlog.com thanks all of the military members and their families for their sacrifices to this country.
