Check Out the Artists Showcased at WonderGround Gallery in Downtown Disney This Month
If you’ve not yet paid a visit to the WonderGround Gallery located in Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort then you don’t know what you’re missing! The Gallery is an absolute treasure trove of incredible (and oftentimes Disney-themed) art! Each month the Gallery also focuses on the talents of some of Disney’s favorite artists.
Let’s take a look at the artists whose work will be featured this month:
Artist Showcase
Admire the individual perspectives, styles and techniques of industry veterans and up-and-comers at WonderGround Gallery’s artist showcase. The following artists will even be on hand to sign prints: Stephanie Buscema, Sam Carter, Danny Heller, Leilani Joy and Ann Shen: Sept. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Artist in Residence: David Lozeau
David Lozeau is a figurative painter whose distinct art depicts skeleton musicians, deep-sea creatures, Wild West Bandidos, doe-eyed animals and high-octane motorsports. It’s no surprise that his work appeals to a wide variety of collectors across the globe. You’ll find his pieces in galleries on three continents and he has won awards at fine art exhibitions. David layers acrylics, gouache, and enamel to create vibrant, unforgettable paintings with interesting narratives. David’s Lowbrow art pays homage to everything from Greek mythology to the hot rod scene. His nautical art is anything but typical, depicting steampunk divers, tiki-hoarding octopus and underwater robot invasions. David grew up in rural New Hampshire and earned a graphic art degree before moving to Southern California and pursuing his artistic passion.
Appearance Dates: Sept 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, 27-28 from 5 to 10 p.m.
Featured Artisan of the Month: Leilani Joy
A native of Northern California, Leilani Joy grew up illustrating the world around her. Earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Leilani’s works have been featured in numerous publications, product lines and gallery shows worldwide. For the WonderGround Gallery, Leilani creates classic Disney characters in her own unique style! Leilani’s works are influenced primarily by Japanese manga and animation, folklore, fantasy and pop surrealism. Her emotive long-limbed ladies are brought to life using vivid color, graphic shapes and a variety of materials including acrylic, watercolor, ink and 3D collage.
Appearance Dates: September 7 from 2 to 4 p.m.; September 8 and 28-29 from 1 to 4 p.m.
