Crowds Swell as Magic Kingdom Ticket Scanning System Breaks Down
According to a recent piece on WESH, it would appear that visitors to the Magic Kingdom this morning were in for a rude awakening as a malfunction with the scanners used to check guests into the park caused a gridlock of guests at the theme park’s main gates.
According to the report, the downed system meant that thousands of guests had to wait outside for hours this morning. In addition reports from guests indicate that Disney World was not offering refunds to those unable to enter the parks.
You can check out the official report here which includes footage from a guest who claims she was required to wait in line for two hours this morning before the problem was resolved. Click here.
According to a Disney spokesperson, the official word on the cause for the closure is as follows: “We experienced an unfortunate interruption in our ticketing system and are working to bring it back online shortly. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
Here are a few tweets that came in from guests on the scene:
@WDWToday the ticketing error this morning threw the start to our day into chaos, even had to miss breakfast at the Plaza! I hope this is fixed soon for everyone else's sake!#WDW #wdwt #MagicKingdom
