This Day in Disney History- February 3
Welcome back to our continuing journey through the history of the Walt Disney Company! Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- February 3.
February 3rd featured the release of a Disney classic, the debut of a new restaurant at Disney Springs, and also the end of a long tenured Epcot attraction.
Birds of a Feather Released (1931)
On this day in 1931, the Silly Symphony Birds of a Feather was released.
Directed by Burt Gillett, the short tells the story of a flock of birds who band together to rescue a kidnapped baby from a hawk.
Society Dog Show (1939)
On this day in 1939, the Mickey Mouse cartoon Society Dog Show was released.
Directed by Bill Roberts, in the cartoon Mickey enters Pluto into a dog show where he is outclassed. When the building catches on fire however, the pooch saves the day.
The Three Caballeros Released (1945)
On this day in 1945, The Three Caballeros was released in the United States.
Produced as part of the studio’s Good Will Program, the feature film was made up of four different animated segments.
The main feature in the film stars Donald Duck joining up with his friends Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles.
Lots of Luck Premieres (1985)
On this day in 1985, the Disney Channel film Lots of Luck premiered.
The made for TV movie starred Martin Mull, Annette Funicello, Fred Williard and Tracey Gold. The film told the story of a blue-collar family who wins the lottery.
Brandy & Mr. Whiskers Season 2 Debuts (2006)
On this day in 2006, the second season of Brandy & Mr. Whiskers debuted on the Disney Channel.
The animated series followed the lives of a pampered dog and a hyperactive rabbit who get trapped in the Amazon together.
Paddlefish Opens (2017)
On this day in 2017, Paddlefish at Disney Springs hosted its grand opening.
The restaurant had previously been known as Fulton’s Crab House and at one time was the Empress Lilly riverboat restaurant.
Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable Closes (2018)
Finally, on this day in 2018, Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable closed.
Shown in The Land pavilion’s Harvest Theater , the film featured the Lion King stars stressing the importance of environmentalism.
