Crowds Show Up En Masse For Last Night of Splash Mountain
It’s the end of the era! Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom is closing at the end of day today. It will undergo a lengthy refurbishment and will be re-themed as a Princess and the Frog attraction. Nostalgic crowds have been flocking to the Magic Kingdom for one last adventure with Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit including this evening were large lines are forming for the ride.
As you can see, as of 7:30pm this evening, the line for Splash Mountain was at 175 minutes.
Many arrived at the Magic Kingdom specifically to bid good-bye to the Frontierland ride which has long been a fan favorite.
You can see that the queue is jam-packed this evening!
Due to the dated nature of Disney’s film Song of the South, the company decided that it would be changing the theming of Splash Mountain at both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland.
Disney has yet to say how long the Splash Mountain closure will be. However, we expect it to be lengthy.
The ride will be transformed into the magical world of the Bayou and New Orleans as it ships theme to celebrate Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and friends!
Visitors to Splash Mountain have a long night ahead.
There’s currently over a three hour wait to climb on board one last time.
Here’s Brer Fox and Brer Bear surveying the crowd.
Disney Security was stationed area to make sure that everything runs smoothly.
Our MickeyBloggers Greg and Elyssa did manage to nab a photo of Splash Mountain, illuminated for one last time.
