January 10th featured the opening of the Walt Disney World Preview Center, the debut of a new Broadway show, and the release of a popular soundtrack. So, let’s get into it!
Timber Released (1941)
On this day in 1941, the Donald Duck cartoon Timber was released.
In the short, Donald steals Pete’s dinner, so we must work off his debt as a lumberjack.
The Walt Disney World Preview Center Opens (1970)
On this day in 1970, the Walt Disney World Preview Center opened.
Located at the intersection of Interstate 4 and State Road 535, the preview center featured models and drawings of the soon to open Walt Disney World.
You Wish! Premieres (2003)
On this day in 2003, the Disney Channel Original Movie You Wish! premiered.
The film was based on the 1991 Jackie French Koller novel “If I Had One Wish” and starred A.J. Trauth, Spencer Breslin, Lalaine, and Tim Reid.
High School Musical Soundtrack Released (2006)
On this day in 2006, the soundtrack for Disney’s High School Musical was released.
Fueled by the hit single “Breaking Free”, the soundtrack would eventually top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Little Mermaid Premiers on Broadway (2008)
On this day in 2008, The Little Mermaid debuted on Broadway.
Premiering in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, the show features new songs by Alan Menken and Glen Slater. It starred Sierra Boggess as Ariel.
The Owl House Premieres (2020)
On this day in 2020, The Owl House debuted on the Disney channel.
The new animated series was created by Dana Terracea, and followed Luz, a teenage girl, who stumbles upon a portal to another world.
