The Walt Disney Company Partners With Blue Star Families to Make Magic
The Walt Disney Company has had a long-standing admiration and respect for military and veteran personnel. Over the years, they have created strong partnerships with various organizations to help honor and support these military families.
One of these organizations is Blue Star Families.
A Special Event
The special event was held on June 8 where U.S. military children and their families received free Disney books.
The event also included themed crafts and hearing a story read by a military service member and Disney VoluntEAR from Disneyland Resort.
Some special guests came to join in the fun, including Mickey Mouse.
Jessica Moore, vice president of government relations for The Walt Disney Company shared:
The Walt Disney Company is honored to have worked with Blue Star Families for more than a decade to celebrate military and veteran families. This collaboration shares the magic of our stories with the hope it inspires these military children to become the next generation of storytellers.
Retired Marine Corps Warrant Officer and current Disneyland cast member Ariel Elias, returned to Camp Pendleton to make magic for military families and share a story. The time here was extra special for him.
Ariel is a manager of supplier diversity for Disneyland Resort and shared:
Military family life is both exciting and challenging so it’s special being able to help bring Disney magic to the base as a way to express our gratitude for the service and sacrifice of the military community here.
More Support
Disney Publishing has also partnered with Blue Star Families’ “Blue Star Books” program since 2011 and has donated over 300,000 books.
The program is a national success supporting Blue Star Books events at U.S. military bases all across the United States.
Meghan Wieten-Scott is a military spouse and current Senior Director of External Affairs for Blue Star Families. She has been part of the program from the very beginning and loved combining her love and passion for books and Disney and the chance to support the military community.
“My son has grown up attending these amazing events, and it brings me so much joy to watch other military families experience these special opportunities to make memories that will last a lifetime.”
