Check Out the Late-Night Prep Work from Last Night for the Iconic Grand Floridian Gingerbread House!
There’s magic and spice in the air at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, as prep work began late last night on one of the resort’s most beloved holiday traditions!
Can you guess what it is?
While soaking up some ambience in the spectacular Grand Floridian late on Halloween night (at 10.30pm, to be precise,) our MickeyBloggers couldn’t help but sense the excited hubbub of activity coming from the lobby.
With a thick velvet ribbon cordoning off a large portion of the carpeted area, and lots of construction Cast Members busy at work, it could only mean one thing…
It’s time for the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House to make its triumphant return for the holiday season!
An annual tradition beloved by guests and Cast Members alike, this iconic gingerbread creation is a must-see for everyone visiting Walt Disney World through the holiday season.
Expertly constructed from tons of flour, molasses, sugar, and spice, each year the house gets more and more breath-taking to behold. Don’t believe us? Check out our photos of the house from last year, which was designed with extra magical touches to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World!
So, when our MickeyBloggers saw that prep work had begun on the area set to display the gingerbread house, we knew we were witnessing something special.
It may be late at night, but these construction workers are wide awake and preparing for the exciting new arrival!
As we can see from the photos, the main activity here is in the foundations stage, with many sturdy white boards being carefully laid over the carpet in the resort’s lobby.
Each board is being carefully taped into place so you know they won’t be going anywhere, even with all the excited footfall that’s sure to be visiting over the coming weeks!
Around the outside, we can see other trollies and cages full of materials, which we’re sure will have been put to use as the night went on.
After all, with all this activity taking place at 10.30pm, we can’t wait to head back over there later on to check out the construction progress as it continues!
Assembling this giant gingerbread house is no easy task, however, and guests should expect it to be a good few days before the house is erected and it’s store is open for business.
We’re sure it’ll be worth the wait, though, and can’t wait to show all of you at home the grand, gingery majesty of it all!
In the meantime, however, this isn’t the only gingerbread structure that’s getting guests all excited at the Walt Disney World resorts.
Just yesterday, we found that this beautiful gingerbread carousel had made a regal appearance over at Disney’s Beach Club resort, full of stunning horses inspired by each of our favorite Disney Princesses!
Just imagine the sweet and spicy smells which guests at both these resorts can look forward to this holiday season.
Our stomachs are rumbling at the thought of it!
Although we’re very excited to be able to admire the Christmassy displays at the Grand Floridian this winter, we should definitely take a moment to remember and appreciate the fantastic displays which stood proudly at this resort through the Halloween season.
The talent on display for the annual Cast Member pumpkin decorating contest never fails to amaze us, while this chilling display inspired by the Haunted Mansion brought all the creepy Halloween vibes this spooky season.
We can’t wait to see what the Grand Floridian is “cooking up” for us for the holidays, and we’re sure it’ll be absolutely grand!
As always, make sure you stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com and over on our social channels, to stay tuned with all the exciting holiday developments around Walt Disney World this week.
We simply can’t wait to share the festive magic with you all as it starts to arrive at the parks and beyond!
