REVIEW: ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Episode 6
A brilliant series that saw the triumphant return of one of the Star Wars universe’s most beloved characters goes out in a crescendo that will bring a tear to every Star Wars fan; this is our review of Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6.
Over the vast history of the Lucasfilm Star Wars franchise that has spanned nearly six decades, one can make the argument that there is no character more wildly beloved and consistently established than this series title character.
First borough to life by the famed Sir Alec Guinness, and then by brilliant actor Ewan McGregor; he has firmly established a legacy in the universe as a character that is so foundational to so much of this expanding intergalactic franchise that he could be argued to be its premiere character.
For a character so persevering, so endearing, and so foundational, the return of his series has been a delightful engagement with the Star Wars universe of this generation, to interact with the Star Wars Universe of its two previous generations; and Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6 felt like its perfect conclusion.
There were some moments in this episode that will surely stun the most passionate Star Wars fans of every age; with a showdown that fans have been clamoring for since concept art for the series was the first announced.
But there is also the development of the character’s lore that leaves him in an interesting place, as this both feels like the perfect place to leave the character, but also a place of a potential return in future titles.
One thing is immensely certain, director Deborah Chow, and this entire cast, did what many could have deemed an impossibility; told a story that fans have been eagerly awaiting for what feels like decades, and bring it to life in a way that somehow felt fresh.
Obi-Wan Kenobi concludes as a tremendous series that may not be the best Disney+ Star Wars series, but it is certainly one that does justice to who is, perhaps, its greatest creation.
