Happy Birthday Paul McCartney Turns 80 Today
Sir James Paul McCartney celebrates his birthday, today, June 18. So, MickeyBlog would like to say Happy Birthday, Paul McCartney, as he turns 80 years old.
The Power of Paul
Of course, Paul McCartney is one of the most successful singer-songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, and composers of all time. He became famous as a member of The Beatles, and he continued his success as a solo artist.
In fact, did you know The Beatles split up at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World? So, Paul McCartney has many connections to Disney! Let’s take a look at some of them.
Disney Songwriting
First, let’s discuss McCartney’s songwriting. Paul McCartney wrote the soundtrack for The Family Way starring Hayley and John Mills, who are Disney regulars.
In addition, Paul McCartney had songs featured in films. Two examples are “Drive My Car” in Disney/Pixar’s Cars 3 and “Here Comes the Sun” in The Parent Trap.
Acting Roles That Was and Was To Be
Paul McCartney also had success as a Disney actor. In fact, he played Uncle Jack in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
However, he had a couple of roles that did not occur. Hence, he and the rest of The Beatles almost voiced the vultures in The Jungle Book, but John Lennon declined.
Also, Paul McCartney and his band Wings declined an offer for an episode of The Muppet Show. Jerry Nelson said, “They tried their best to get The Beatles, Paul was willing to do it, but we had to hire the whole band. When he was with Wings, it was too big time. We just didn’t have the money. I think George would have done it, but they kept trying to negotiate with Paul… Ringo probably would have too. If they had asked me, I would have said, ‘Hey! Get them! Don’t dicker… Get the ones who are ready to commit.'”
Cherries on Top
As far as community relations, Paul McCartney says he fights for animal rights thanks to Disney’s Bambi.
In addition, Paul and Linda McCartney hosted the 1973 Disney Time Christmas special. Check out the Tweet below!
