Construction Update: TRON Coaster and Light & Power Co.
MickeyBlog was at Magic Kingdom today where we decided to pop by Tomorrowland to give you the latest update on how TRON coaster construction is coming along.
If you’ll remember, work is also being carried out on the adjacent Light & Power Co.
This is the gift shop next to Space Mountain.
One side of Light & Power Co. will have a walkway back to the TRON coaster.
With this in mind, some essential work is being carried out to the side of the shop.
One of the rear entrances is also being upgraded.
As you can see, the side of the shop is still very much a work-in-progress.
The shop remains open but construction walls are in place inside near impacted areas.
With the canopies completed at the TRON coaster, it looks like we are in the home stretch.
We are starting to receive more and more reports that testing is being done on the ride vehicles.
Above you can see the canopies in the skyline just behind Tomorrowland Speedway.
Landscaping around the coaster and some work looks like it still needs to be done to the entrances and exits of the ride.
As of going to print, Disney has yet to make an official announcement regarding an opening date.
However, we hope to hear an announcement soon. Keep following along with us and we promise to keep you posted.
Underneath the canopies you can see the tracks in place.
The area is still very much an active construction site though.
The long cylinder shape you see below is actually the new tunnel for the Walt Disney World Railroad.
TRON construction obstructed the original railroad tracks.
This meant that the railroad was required to shut down during the entire duration of the TRON coaster construction.
The track for the railroad has started to be laid down again. You can see the new track at Storybook Circus.
The Walt Disney World Railroad circles around the outside of Magic Kingdom theme park with stops on Main Street, Frontierland and Storybook Circus.
We’ll keep updating you on the progress of the coaster.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for further Walt Disney World news and updates.
We’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week.
