PHOTOS: Take a Look Inside the Cosmic Rewind Queue on Opening Day!
As of today, Cosmic Rewind is officially open at Epcot! The entirety of the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion opened in conjunction with the epic new attraction, and we couldn’t wait any longer to give you a glimpse inside the queue! While we won’t spoil the queue’s big surprise moment, we will be showing photos of the queue in its entirety, so consider this your warning!
We have to start outside of the building with the super cool new Nova Corps ships that serves as the Pavilion’s landmark. You’ve likely seen hundreds of images of the ship from the front, but it’s the back of the ship we are most impressed with!
Incredible detail has been put into the construction of the back end, including landing gears, engines, and the inner workings of the ship! The ship is the only landmark in the (very short) outdoor queue.
When you enter the Pavilion, you’re welcomed by a sign that gives us an immediate sense of time and place…you’re in the Xandar Pavilion at Epcot!
Once inside, the Galaxarium is the first room you’ll enter. You’ll slowly ascend upwards as you are educated on Xandar and their interaction with our planet Terra by a very cool overhead projection video. The architecture of the Galaxarium reminds me a lot of the Guggenheim museum!
Once you’re out of the Galaxarium, you’ll wind your way through many rooms that feature extremely detailed models, like this model of a Xandarian ship. You’ll also pass an animated model of the planet of Xandar that reminds us a lot of Walt’s model of Epcot you can find on the TTA Peoplemover. An easter egg perhaps? We think so!
Next, it’s time for the pre-show! Glen Close is back reprising her role in the MCU, and she is featured in the entirety of the pre-show.
Through a series of events we won’t spoil here, you’ll next find yourself on a starship ready to board the attraction vehicles. Since you’re on a ship, the room is dark and full of mechanical parts.
The final boarding room is lit extraordinarily! The lighting of the queue is brilliantly planned out, as each room gets darker, slowly letting your eyes adjust to the darkness you’ll experience on the attraction.
While the queue is extremely fun to explore (and there are many easter eggs to be found!) the true joy of Cosmic Rewind is in the attraction itself…and no article nor YouTube recap can fully prepare you for how much FUN you’ll have when you do get the chance to ride! We want to know your thoughts! What do you think of the queue? And will you ride Cosmic Rewind when you next visit Epcot? Leave a comment and let us know!
