TRON Coaster Canopies Continue To Transform
Here at MickeyBlog HQ, we love nothing more than tracking the progress of the new Tron Coaster.
Once completed, this beauty take guests on a fast-paced ride through cyber-space just like in the TRON films.
The coaster will feature both indoor and outdoor elements.
Outdoors, the ride will zoom underneath a massive illuminated canopy which is what you are seeing taking shape in these awesome construction images.
Just last week, the canopies were still largely uncovered.
However, it has been steady progress since.
New white panels are seemingly going up every day.
The look to be some sort of fabric giving the curved edges of the outdoor portion of the ride a very fluid feel.
This attraction in Tomorrowland is going to look truly magnificent once completed.
It will also completely change the Magic Kingdom skyline.
For those unfamiliar, the coaster sits next to Space Mountain.
It’s also next to the Tomorrowland Speedway. You may notice the race track in many of these images.
A crane was brought in this morning to help get workers up to some of the taller bits of the canopy.
We suspect it won’t be long before we see the first dome of the canopy completely covered!
As of going to print, Disney has yet to announce an opening date for the attraction.
All of this progress makes us hopeful though that an announcement will be soon!
For those visiting the Magic Kingdom in the weeks ahead, you can get gorgeous views of the TRON construction site via the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
The elevated platform of the PeopleMover gives a bird’s eye view of the construction area.
Another great spot is from the viewing platform of the Tomorrowland Speedway.
f
This is due to the speedway’s close proximity to the attraction.
Finally, over at Storybook Circus, near the Barnstormer also offers some pretty fantastic sightlines of this new coaster.
In addition to drawing its inspiration from the TRON films, the coaster is also modeled after the TRON Lightcycle PowerRun in Shanghai Disney.
In Shanghai, this is a headlining attraction and major draw for those visiting the park.
We are sure it will be the same here.
We can’t wait to climb on board.
In the meantime, we are content tracking the progress of the coaster during our weekly Magic Kingdom visits.
The best way to stay updated about this and other Disney World news is to keep following along with us here at MickeyBlog.
We’ll continue our LIVE coverage from the theme parks each and every week!
Trust me when I say that you won’t want to miss a thing!
In the meantime, we’ll leave you with a few more incredible images of the futuristic canopy of TRON.
The more panels that are laid, the more breathtaking the attraction becomes.
We suspect this will completed change the popularity of Tomorrowland.
Once the coaster arrives, this will be one of the go-to areas of the Magic Kingdom.
Below you can get a look at the track for the coaster itself that runs beneath the caopies.
We can’t wait to try out all of the incredible twists and turns.
The ride vehicle for this attraction will have an elevated motorcycle, bicycle sort of feel.
We’re sure that this will make for a ride like nothing we’ve experienced before.
Below you can see the point where the track leaves the indoor portion of the coaster and heads out underneath the canopy.
