What Will Walt Disney World Be Like in April
April showers bring May flowers. That statement feels especially applicable to Walt Disney World, home of the instant rainstorm.
Still, you shouldn’t let the need for a rain slicker keep you out of the parks.
Overall, guests flock to Disney each April because that’s one of the best times to visit.
What will Disney be like in April of 2022? Here’s what you need to know.
Let’s Talk about April Visits
You’ll discover plenty going on when you visit during April.
Disney officials understand that two events lead to increased attendance. The Easter holiday falls on April 22nd next year.
Meanwhile, Spring Break is still happening in various parts of the country. The 2022 calendar has led more colleges to pick March dates, though.
So, you won’t notice as many college students in April as in previous years. Elementary, middle, and high schools will have some dates off, though.
As such, families can and will travel to Walt Disney World while they have a week’s vacation.
Overall, Disney views April as one of its busiest months. In fact, it ranks the middle of the month in the same crowd tier as Christmas Week!
That shouldn’t scare you off, though. Wait times for attractions are usually much shorter than in the summer!
Thus, April is an ideal time to visit, and Disney fans know it!
Let’s Talk about the Weather
We all know that Central Florida’s weather is mercurial and unpredictable.
Even so, April stands above virtually every other time of the year when it comes to comfortable temperatures!
According to WeatherSpark, the average high temperature in Orlando in April is 80-84 degrees. Highs generally range from 72-90 degrees.
The average low temperature usually falls between 61 and 66 degrees. The range for daily low temperature is 52-71 degrees.
In other words, Disney never gets too cold in April and rarely gets too hot.
In fact, after 6 p.m. Orlando’s weather probably matches your current thermostat setting.
That’s only half the equation, though. During April, Orlando is almost always cloudy (with no chance of meatballs).
Recent data suggests overcast skies hover over the city nearly 40 percent of April. That’s a lot. On the plus side, you won’t need your sunglasses as much!
Of course, lots of clouds mean plenty of rain. Orlando is oddly habitual on this front. Toward the start of April, it rains a lot.
By the end of the month, less than out of every four days involves rain showers. Since you don’t have a lawn to manage, that’s great for you.
Orlando homeowners get a bit cranky about the situation, though.
Let’s Talk about Disney Events for the Month
First, I’ll mention that Disney’s 50th-anniversary celebration will continue throughout 2022.
As crazy as this sounds, the birthday party that started on October 1st, 2021, won’t even be halfway over in April!
Park management plans to unveil more new amenities throughout the 18-month event.
So, I cannot promise anything beyond what Disney has previously announced.
The amenities include new nighttime shows called Disney Enchantment and Harmonious. During the day, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will host KiteTails.
All four Walt Disney World theme parks will decorate their landmarks with special magical touches to give them a festive glow.
Also, limited-time character photo ops will include members of Disney’s Sensational Six enjoying the party.
As the hosts, Mickey and Minnie Mouse will get unique outfits that use EARidescent colors.
Guests staying onsite at Disney resorts will receive Early Theme Park Entry for many attractions.
Those of you staying at hotels in the Disney Deluxe Tier will also gain admission thanks to Extended Evening Hours.
Currently, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT participate in this amenity once a week each.
Nobody else is in the park other than guests staying at qualifying resorts. It’s like a ticketed event that you get for free!
The only event you know and love is the 2022 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.
The Flower & Garden event will take place every day in April.
So, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the foods and check out the stunning flower versions of your favorite Disney characters.
Oh, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is up and running. That’s reason enough to visit, at least for my family.
Let’s Talk about Local Events
Are you a basketball fan? If so, you’re in luck, at least early in the month.
The Orlando Magic plays home games on April 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 10th.
You’ll enjoy this rare opportunity to say that you watched Jalen Suggs play as a rookie!
Soccer fans can watch Orlando City play in April as well.
The concert event that may drag you to Orlando happens on April 11th. Justin Bieber will play the Amway Center that night.
I’m a bigger fan of two other options, though. On April 3rd, Postmodern Jukebox will play at Walt Disney Theatre.
Then, on April 27th, Sir Elton John will play the Amway Center. He’s an Atlanta Braves fan. So, I love him.
Latin music sensation Ozuna, who just made his film debut in F9, will also perform at the Amway Center on April 4th.
Broadway in Orlando will be back in full swing by next Spring. Unfortunately, April represents the break on the schedule.
Cats plays from April 1st through April 3rd. After that, you’re out of luck until mid-May.
Final Thoughts
Walt Disney World is wildly popular in April for good reasons. You’ll discover plenty to do during any random year.
For 2022, you’ll enjoy a wealth of options thanks to the 50th birthday party.
You can marry your love of Disney with various sports and concert events.
Alternatively, you can stay safe and warm in the Disney Bubble for your whole trip. That’s usually what we do.
