What’s Going on at Splash Mountain?
MickeyBlog was at Magic Kingdom this morning where we noticed that yet again, Splash Mountain in Frontierland was closed to the public.
It seems as of late that this attraction is closed more than it is open.
Earlier this month, the ride was closed for several days in a row at which time it was drained of all its water.
Then, earlier this week we shared images with you of scaffolding going up around the ride.
Disney has not announced exactly what sort of work is being carried out.
Nor has Walt Disney World announced a closure due to refurbishment.
In all likelihood, the ride is getting a sprucing up for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary which officially kicks off on October 1st.
We also know that at some point, the ride will be closing for a lengthy refurbishment while Disney reimagines Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Frog attraction. However, Disney has said that this refurbishment is still a ways off.
We’ll be visiting the parks regularly over the next few weeks and will come back to you with a Splash Mountain update as soon as we know more.
In the meantime, guests visiting the Magic Kingdom are advised to check the My Disney Experience App.
The App will tell you if the ride is closed during your visit which will stop you from trekking over to its location if the closure continues!
