Take an Indepth Look at Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Merch Collection
This month we feel like the preparations for Disney’s 50th Anniversary “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” have really kicked off.
We’ve shared theme park plans, special dining options and now…let’s talk merch!
There are so many awesome new items coming your way in the weeks ahead including housewares, apparel, theme park essentials and more.
To give you a taste of what’s to come, here are some insights from Merchandise Graphic Designer Desma Thompson from how the cast members come up with the awesome designs you see specific items you’ll want to be on the lookout for.
According to Desma, the entire anniversary collection was a collaborative effort from several different teams. The goal is to have each item tell it’s own part of the Disney World story. As an example Desma cites her favorite collaboration which was working with merchandise partners to fine-tune items in the 50th Anniversaries signature tones of Disney’s new EARidescent color scheme.
Designs, like the hoodie above, feature some incredible Disney characters. Even better is that fact that the characters above are dressed in their 50th Anniversary outfits. This ties in perfectly with the NEW character appearances that will start happening in October with the Fab5 in their brand new costumes.
Desma also highlights a very important artist that inspired the 50th Anniversary artwork – The legendary Mary Blair.
Even the famous Mickey and Minnie plush dolls will be getting a 50th Anniversary makeover. Just look at adorable Miss Minnie above who is wearing a shiny gold bow and shoes along with an Earidescent dress perfect for celebrating the HUGE festivities that are on their way.
Another awesome item to be on the lookout for is the Celebration Ear Hat pictured above. It also features the Earidescent colorway and adorable 50th Anniversary details including “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” logo.
Desma also leaves us with another hot-pick to be on the lookout for- a ceramic mug that showcases beloved Disney Characters, Cinderella Castle, fun icons and shimmering Earidescent accents.

Desma also teased that some of the 50th Anniversary items might really surprise us. She said, “The art in the collection features nods to the past, present and future of Walt Disney World Resort. If you look closely you will find icons representing favorite attractions from opening day in 1971 to some that are coming in future collections!”
