Unattached Theme Park Reservation Cancellations Scheduled
We have received word from Walt Disney World that on Monday morning emails are going out to guests with an important Park Pass System update. The email states that if a Walt Disney World Theme Park Reservation is booked for days that don’t also have valid Park Admission for those same days then the Theme Park Reservations will be removed. Theme Park Reservation cancellations will occur automatically 48 hours after the emails are sent.
Previously, if a guest had valid Park Admission linked to their My Disney Experience account, a Theme Park Reservation could be made for days within the ticket’s validity dates. But sometimes vacation plans need to be cancelled or pushed to dates in the future.
Currently, these Theme Park Reservations are not automatically removed off of My Disney Experience accounts once Park Admission is cancelled/pushed from those travel dates. These “unattached” Theme Park Reservations have been sitting in the system taking away opportunities for new guests to claim them.
Disney is attempting to rectify this issue. Once the emails are sent out on Monday, guests will have 48 hours to cancel their “unattached” Theme Park Reservations or they can link valid Park Admission to keep them in place. Theme Park Reservation cancellations will occur automatically after those 48 hours for any still booked without valid Park Admission for those same days.
Going forward it is assumed that when Park Admission is cancelled or pushed to future dates, the Theme Park Reservations made for the original trip dates will be auto-cancelled at midnight that evening. This is similar to way Disney dealt with FastPass+ Reservations when Park Admission was cancelled or pushed to future dates.
As of right now, over half of the dates in May show zero Theme Park Reservation Availability for both Theme Park Ticket holders and guests staying at select Resort Hotels. Hopefully auto-cancelling these unused Theme Park Reservation will add more availability for guests in the coming days.
