An ode can be seen for every one of their creations to date, spanning from The Adventures of André & Wally B. in 1984 to their most recent Pixar Popcorn series which debuted on Disney+ in January 2021.
The company has had an interesting history for such a relatively young company, beginning as a division of Lucasfilm then known as Computer Graphics Lap (CGL) until branching off in 1986 as an independent company under the name of Pixar.
It was then that Steve Jobs came on board, investing $5 million into the company and joined Pixar’s board of directors.
Shortly after this, Walt Disney Animation Studios became interested in a software that the young company had created, eventually buying this software and beginning a long-standing relationship with the animation studio.
It wasn’t until 1991 that the two studios would make a historic deal for three feature-length films.
It was then in 2006 that Pixar became an official subsidiary of Disney for a total of $7.4 billion. During the acquisition of Pixar is when John Lassater stepped up from being the Executive Vice President of Pixar to the Chief Creative Officer of both Pixar and the Walt Disney Animation Studios.
From here, the rest is history, with Pixar continuing to smash records and tug on heart strings with masterpieces such as Rataouille, Up and Inside Out.
