Nick Offerman Could Be Smee in Disney’s Live-Action ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’
It looks like the live-action remake of Peter Pan titled Peter Pan and Wendy is gaining momentum over at Disney with the news that Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation) is in talks to play Captain Hook’s silly sidekick Smee!
This is the latest in a few recent casting announcements. Late last year it was revealed that Jude Law was being considered for the coveted role of Captain Hook and Disney also announced during Investor’s Day that the project would appear on the Disney+ streaming network.
The Nick Offerman news comes form the Illuminerdi who we find to be pretty reliable when it comes to their casting updates. However, at this point nothing official has been announced by Disney. We think Offerman would be a great fit for the role. He has always been a sort of funny-man which makes him a nice contrast to Captain Hook’s cruel and sinister nature.
As Illuminerdi tells us, Offerman has a appeared in a number of series including Fargo, Bob’s Burgers, Brooklyn Nine Nine, Good Omens and many more. He has also let his vocal talents to Hotel Transylvania 2 and Sing. Offerman is also known for the reality competition that he co-hosts with his Parks & Recreation cast member Amy Poehler called Making It.
When it comes to casting, we also know that Peter Pan will be played by newcomer Alexander Molony and Wendy Darling by Ever Anderson. Anderson also plays a young Black Widow in the Marvel movie of the same name which Disney will be releasing in May of this year. It has also been confirmed that Alyssa Alook will play the daughter of the Native American chief, Tiger Lily.
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Yara Shahidi(Black-ish, Grown-ish) has also signed on to play Tinker Bell. The film is co-written by David Lowery and Toby Halbrooks with Lowery directing. The duo most recently paired up for the live-action remake of Pete’s Dragon.
This is a story that we will continue to follow closely here at MickeyBlog. Readers are encouraged to keep checking in with us for further updates on this and other awesome Disney film projects in the pipeline!
