All The Beams Have Been Removed From The Top of the Polynesian Resort
Our MickeyBlogger is on the scene at Walt Disney World again this afternoon and noticed that the vista has dramatically changed over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
If you’ve been following along with us then you know that the Poly is currently having renovations carried out to it’s Main Ceremonial Hall that will include a new porte cochere and monorail station.
As part of the project, the resort’s iconic big wooden structures have been removed from the top of the Ceremonial House.
You can see the towering wooden slats in the image above! For those taking the monorail around the property, these structures used to cast an inviting towering tropical figure in the distance.
In the image above taken from today, you can see a very different looking main building at the Poly, one almost dwarfed by the towering palm trees on the property.
During our visit to the property this afternoon we noticed that the structure supporting the large wooden slats is still in place.
That’s the last hint at the building’s original splendor!
During the refurbishment, the main building at the Poly will still remain open to guests. Among the changes to the building will get a brand new porte cochere that has been designed to showcase the property’s iconic mid-20th century architecture.
The monorail station is also being given a facelift and will include bold new wooden screens that have been covered with geometric patterns in bright, tropical colors forming a vibrant and artistic new composition that will greet you when you arrive.
A focal point of the renovations to the Ceremonial House will also be all-new chandeliers inspired by glass floats, fishing nets and oversized bamboo elements.
