In Just 16 Days ‘Inside Out 2’ Has Surpassed ‘Inside Out’
Another day, another record broken by Pixar’s Inside Out 2.
The latest fare from Disney and Pixar has managed to reach $863.1 million at the worldwide box office, meaning that the film has now overtaken the original Inside Out‘s lifetime gross of $859 million.
Perhaps more impressively, the Inside Out 2 has managed to do so in just 16 days. Overall, the film is now the 19th highest-grossing animated film of all time at the worldwide box office.
Where ‘Inside Out 2’ Now Stands
Domestically, Inside Out 2 has now brought in $411.8 million. That number means the film has passed Frozen ($400 million) and now has the ninth-highest domestic total for an animated film ever.
Earlier this week, the film passed Minions: The Rise of Gru ($370 million), Finding Nemo ($381 million), and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ($382 million) to crack the top 10.
Internationally, the film has grossed $435.3 million, adding $16.6 million to its total on Thursday alone.
$1 Billion Now Seems Inevitable
Inside Out 2 will now surely pass the $900 million mark over its third weekend, and a run to $1 billion now seems an inevitability. When it does, the film will be just the 54th film to reach that plateau.
After a tough couple of years for Pixar, Inside Out 2 has proven that reports of the studio’s demise may have been overblown.
