Chocolate Matcha Baumkuchen
Wow, doesn’t this one look artsy?
We’re here in World Celebration, where Connections Eatery has once again enticed us in with the promise of unique, delicious, and globally-inspired delicacies.
In a park full of incredible food options, we’re always happy to see the offerings at Connections continue to inspire — so it’s always an easy, must-visit spot for us!
Today, our reporters were here to try the Chocolate Matcha Baumkuchen. A previous Food & Wine Festival offering, this dish has arrived on the regular menu at Connections, and we’re thinking it’s going to be a popular hit this summer.
But, before we get on to tasting it…what is Baumkuchen?
Well, it’s a delicate cake layered in rings, giving it a log or tree-like effect that makes it so unique. This particular cake is matcha-flavored, drizzled in chocolate, and topped with a cloud of sweet whipped cream.
Costing $5.99, the Baumkuchen looks very artistic and photogenic…but will it taste just as enticing?
According to our reporters, this dessert scored a solid 6/10 in our books.
Unfortunately, the cake alone was somewhat bland, with only the faintest taste of matcha shining through. However, the addition of all that lovely chocolate and cream added lots of texture and flavor to the cake, really elevating the dessert into something very enjoyable!
Overall, we think this is a dessert that would appeal to anyone looking to try something a little different here in EPCOT, especially those who prefer their desserts less sweet and sickly.
Would we order this again ourselves? I think so!
